In day to day life, having an overall positive view of oneself is important for our mental health, as it helps us have more self-confidence, treat ourselves well, and have faith in our abilities. The term self esteem refers to how we value and view ourselves. Self-esteem may be high or low, and essentially is an indicator of whether you like yourself. Low self esteem negatively affects mental health in the following ways:Being extremely critical of oneselfConstant negative feelings(sadness, anxiety, anger, shame, or guilt)Prevent growth due to a fear of tryingNeglectful behaviour towards oneselfSelf-harming behaviours.
